Faithful friend

Faithful friend

I sure hope this picture isn’t too hard to see. It is just so moving to me. It is was taken shortly before my beloved Grandpa died of cancer after a long-fought battle. See that little dog there? That’s sweet Trinket. She was his baby – as you can tell because he has his hand on her. She was such a comfort to him in those final days. My Grandpa LOVED his dogs so much, and they loved him back. Trinket NEVER left his side she loved him so much! Even after he died, she wouldn’t move. If this isn’t love I don’t know what is! This scene just PERFECTLY embodies the wonderful poem by Hope Harrington Kolb below:

"What would I do without you, my precious, furry friend?
Part mischief, but all blessing and faithful to the end!
You look at me with eyes of love; you never hold a grudge…
You think I’m far too wonderful to criticize or judge.
It seems your greatest joy in life is being close to me…
I think God knew how comforting your warm, soft fur would be.
I know you think you’re human, but I’m glad it isn’t true…
The world would be a nicer place if folks were more like you!
A few short years are all we have; One day we’ll have to part…
But you, my pet, will always have a place within my heart."

So true!!
